Mauritius Equity Markets | 15 Sep 2015 : Stock Exchange of Mauritius equity trading stays in red
PORT LOUIS, Mauritius, Capital Markets in Africa — Stock Exchange of Mauritius stayed in the South Pole. The equity market capitalization closed at MUR 214.161 after losing MUR 288 million (US$8 million) relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 214.449 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) further sagged by 0.13 percent or 2.58 points to close at 1,923.12 points and SEM10 index closed at 366.39 points after falling by 0.01 percent or 0.04 points.
From the market activity viewpoint, the overall total volume trade ended at 8,858,693 (an increase relative to volume of 2,544,323 recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 44.002 million (a rise relative to MUR 20.34 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 7,580,989 (about 86 percent of total volume) at MUR 6.444 million and Gamma Civic registered 330,605 traded stocks amounted to MUR 8.926 million. POLICY Limited had 254,000 at MUR 1.678 million and CIM Financial Services recorded a total volume of 194,100 shares at MUR 1.615 million. CIEL Limited also recorded 122,303 shares at MUR 826,782.

Mauritius Oil & Refinery Limited gained 1.85 percent to end at MUR 27.50 and Bluelife Limited ended at MUR 4.40 after adding 1.85 percent. Lottotech Limited ended at MUR 3.85 by gaining 1.32 percent and TERRA Limited increased by 0.85 to settled at MUR 29.50.
On the losers’ chart, Air Mauritius Limited ended at MUR 10.30 after losing 5.50 percent, Gamma Civic Limited tumbled by 5.10 percent to settle at MUR 27.00 and Mauritius Union Assurance sagged by 1.75 percent to close at MUR 70.25. New Mauritius Limited slumped by 0.55 percent to trade at MUR 18.20 and CIM Financial Services crashed by 0.48 percent to end at MUR 8.32.
The DEMEX index ended at 208.95 points by adding 2.64 points or 1.28 percent. The market capitalization gained MUR 627 million to close at MUR 49.661 billion (relative to MUR 49.034 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 2.442 million exchanged in 43,229 traded securities. Swan Life Limited soared by 20.00 percent to close at MUR 1,440.00 and Bychemex rose by 0.73 percent to close at MUR 8.26. However, Constance Hotel sagged by 0.14 percent to trade at MUR 36.60.
